The mapping type is the first thing a rule does. It makes the starting value, and then the rule's edits change it. See Mapping fields for how rules work and Edit values for the edits.
The examples on this page use this product:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
title | Merino Crew Tee |
vendor | Kiwi Outdoor Co |
color | Navy |
size | M |
material | (empty) |
product_type | T-Shirts |
Use copies the value of one field, without changing it.
vendor gives Kiwi Outdoor Co.Add static value gives every product the same text.
{{field}}. See Using field values in text.new gives new.{{vendor}} - {{title}} gives Kiwi Outdoor Co - Merino Crew Tee.Combine joins several parts into one value. Each part is either a field or some text.
Without a separator, you add the spaces and punctuation yourself as text parts:
| Parts | Result |
|---|---|
vendor, text , title | Kiwi Outdoor Co Merino Crew Tee |
title, text -, color, text /, material | Merino Crew Tee - Navy / |
With a separator, empty parts are skipped, so you don't get stray dashes or slashes. Text parts that are only spaces are skipped too, so don't mix the two styles.
| Parts | Separator | Result |
|---|---|---|
title, color, size, material | - | Merino Crew Tee - Navy - M |
color, material | , | Navy |
Text parts are used as typed. {{field}} inside a text part isn't replaced by the field's value, so use a field part instead.
Use lookup table looks up the value of a field in a table of "old" and "new" values, and gives the new value.
old => new or old, new.Shirt doesn't match T-Shirts, because the whole value has to match.Example with the source field product_type and this table:
T-Shirts => Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops Jackets => Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Outerwear > Coats & Jackets
product_type | Keep unmatched values | Result |
|---|---|---|
T-Shirts | either | Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops |
t-shirts | either | Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops |
Socks | ticked | Socks |
Socks | not ticked | (empty) |
Feedsmith reads a linked sheet again at most every 15 minutes, so a change to the sheet can take that long to show.
Extract from looks for words from a list inside a field, and gives the first one it finds.
Example with the source field title and this list:
Navy Blue Blue Red
title | Result |
|---|---|
Merino Tee Navy Blue | Navy Blue |
Rain Jacket BLUE | Blue |
Bluebird Beanie | (empty), because "Blue" is only part of a word |
Red and Blue Scarf | Blue, because "Blue" is higher in the list than "Red" |
Put longer values above shorter ones that they contain. If Blue were above Navy Blue, the first title would give Blue.
Leave empty gives an empty value. Use it to blank a field for some products.
product_type is equal to Gift Card, Leave empty, then Otherwise Use barcode. Gift cards get no gtin, and everything else uses its barcode.Edits that only add to a value, e.g. Add prefix, are skipped on an empty value. Overwrite still works.
